Residency Application
Each year, our program matches three applicants. Apply through the AAMC ERAS website.
Application Requirements for Franciscan Health-Olympia Fields General Surgery Residency Program are: Complete ERAS standard application including:
o Curriculum vitae
o Official medical school transcripts
o COMLEX and/or USMLE transcripts
o Personal statement
o Three letters of recommendation
o Medical Student Performance Evaluation
Applicants must be eligible for temporary Illinois medical licensure
Franciscan Health, as an employer of Residents and Fellows, does not sponsor visas.
For the 2023 ERAS® cycle, our program will encourage all applicants to complete a supplemental ERAS application, offered through the AAMC’s ERAS program. Applicants also will be required to complete the MyERAS application.
The additional information collected will help our program staff learn more about applicants’ medical education journey, including more meaningful information about work, volunteer, and research experiences, and will help us better identify applicants who fit our program environment and mission.
This supplemental ERAS application will be delivered on a survey platform that is separate from the MyERAS application and must be completed between September 1-30.
Audition Rotations
Fourth year medical students are encouraged to spend four weeks with our team on an audition rotation. We look forward to getting to know you and introducing you to our residents, attendings, and staff. Please fill out the Application Form and return it to Jackie Claxton, whose contact information is within the application. Additional application information can be found here.
Please note, our elective rotations are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. In order to be considered for a rotation, a clinical affiliation agreement between your school and Franciscan Health must be on file. Applications and supplemental documentation must be received at least 45 days in advance of your rotation. Meals or housing are not provided.
