Franciscan Health, olympia fields
As one of our core rotation sites, St. James Olympia Fields is the home to many of our operative cases and patients. Outside of general surgery, residents will also have dedicated anesthesia and urology rotations at this location. Olympia Fields is additionally home of the other training programs including Internal Medicine, Radiology, Orthopedic Surgery, Urology, and Emergency Medicine.
resurrection medical center
Located on the North side of Chicago near O’Hare Airport, Resurrection provides residents the opportunity to work in a busy community hospital with many surgeons and a different patient population. Attendings covered at this facility include those trained in General Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Cardiothoracic Surgery, and Intensive Care.
John H Stroger, Cook County Hospital
For Trauma and Burn Surgery, residents rotate at John H. Stroger Cook County Hospital during their 2nd and 4th years. Cook County Trauma Unit has served as a national model for trauma care. Residents work with several attendings and fellows at this renowned hospital.
Lurie Childrens Hospital
For Pediatric Surgery, residents rotate for two months during their third year of residency at one of the best pediatric hospitals in Illinois, Lurie Children’s Hospital, alongside residents from Northwestern and Loyola University.
Advocate Christ Hospital
As a third year resident we spend a month at Christ Hospital for our transplant rotation that focuses on renal transplant. We also have the opportunity to participate in heart and lung transplants when available. Fourth year residents will spend a dedicated month for vascular surgery at Christ Hospital.
Chicago Surgical Clinic
Fourth year residents spend a month at our associated surgical center that focuses on primarily endoscopy. Elective surgical cases are also covered.
